First Church of Christ, Scientist (second) is dedicated.

Architect: Charles Brigham. Originally called “The Mother Church Extension” and subsequently the Mother Church, it is designed in the Classical Revival style, and located at 210 Massachusetts Avenue. The building seats over 3,000 and contains the largest pipe organ in the western hemisphere, a rebuilt Aeolian Skinner with 13,295 pipes, which was made in Boston. A Neoclassical style portico is added to the front of the church in 1973.*
